Give an old iPad a second life as a photo frame that shows an iCloud Shared Album. Set it up here, on your phone or your current iPad, then send it to the old iPad with a code. No account, no app, and nothing to type on the old iPad.

Prefer to use this device as the frame? You can do that too, after you check the album.
Changing album? Paste the new album link below and tap Check my album. To put the same album on another iPad, tap Show the code afterwards and scan it with the Camera app on that iPad.
Tip: name the album after the frame, such as “Mum's Frame”. To change what the frame shows, add or remove photos in that album from your phone. Nothing to touch on the frame.
This is the comment typed when the photo was added to the shared album. Only the first comment shows. You can also switch it on or off from the menu on the frame.
Note: sleep only blanks the screen to black. It does not turn the iPad off, and the screen light stays on at the same brightness. Tap the screen at night to wake the frame for a minute.
Tap the button, then point the Camera app on the old iPad at the code. The album, the town and the timing all come with it.
Note: the code contains your album link, so don't post a photo of it online. An iPad older than iOS 11 can't scan codes. For that one, send the album link to it another way, such as by email, and paste it on that iPad.
Tap the Share button at the top of Safari, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
From now on, open the frame from the new Frame icon. It fills the whole screen and remembers your album.
Then set Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock to Never and leave the iPad plugged in.
